We are shot, both of us are travel weary. But, we are finally within five and a half hours from our home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. We are spending the night at my son Matt's house so that we can get some sleep and then see my brother in the morning.
Our arrival at Lambert St. Louis Airport wasn't without drama. After nearly 22,000 miles of travel and our last leg of air travel our luggage didn't accompany us to St. Louis.
While in Hanoi we decided that we would do our souvenir shopping, purchase a bag to place them in the bag and check the new bag along with my backpack instead of carrying them on the aircraft. My backpack contained our clean clothes and my CPAP (I have sleep apnea).
So, after an hour spent with a very gracious and accommodating United Airlines luggage agent we were told that they would track down the luggage. The the agent confirmed that the bags were still in Chicago. So, the plan was for the Baggage office to call us when our baggage arrived in St. Louis on the first flight from Chicago. She said we could either pick it up or we could have them ship it to us in Fayetteville.
I was already travel weary and not having our luggage meant I didn't have a CPAP. If you've used one for a long time like I have it is very difficult, if not impossible to sleep without it. But I did manage a few hours of sleep.
On day Nineteen the luggage arrived so Martha and I went to pick it up at the airport and then headed for a brief visit with my brother and his family.
We finally got on the road to Fayetteville about 13:00.
