We are getting restless to leave. We've test packed, finished purchasing the last odds and ends we needed. Now we wait. Impatiently (for me).
So, we still have a full day home on Monday. Tuesday morning we leave for St. Louis. Wednesday we board the aircraft for HCMC. While we overnight in St. Louis we get to see my two eldest sons and their families. They will help celebrate my upcoming birthday (the 17th). I'm looking forward to seeing everyone.
On Wednesday, Matt (my middle son) is going to drop us off at the airport early so we can clear security and wait on our flight which is at 09:53. Since we will be crossing the international date line on our trip over and back, we lose and gain twelve hours respectively. We land in Ho Chi Minh City on the 17th at 11:30 pm (local time). It's a long flight, we have books on our phones and movies on my portable hard drive to pass the time. Of course, self anesthetizing with a few wee bottles of scotch is always an option too.
We've been thinking we may take the "scenic" route to St. Louis on Tuesday to avoid the interstate. Besides, it'll be more interesting.

For those not familiar with the international dateline it works like this (click on the video below to open it):

In those last few moments before you leave, when the "Oh crap, I forgot to....." hits you, you have my number and you are a short scoot away. I'll take care of any of those last minute chores that might happen.
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't do windows.
Haha, Thanks Tim. You truly are "my brother from another mother."
ReplyDeleteWe're looking forward to your adventure Charlie! Lots of pics!
ReplyDeleteThat's the plan Chris. Vietnam is a country of 91+ million people and 31 million of them use the internet. So, I'm guessing uploading photos won't be a problem.
