Day Nineteen - We are Home

Hello all,

We arrived back in Fayetteville around 6 pm tonight. The drive home is only five and a half hours but it felt like twenty.  We are so jet lagged that we go from feeling great and energized to struggling to stay awake in a heart beat. We had to tag team the drive home and the last ten miles were exceedingly long. But, we made it.

In the days ahead we will endeavor to update the blog, correcting spelling and grammar errors and add photos appropriate to each section of the blog.

After posting to the blog for 18 days on our phones we found that typing on the phone keyboards produces not so wonderful text. Bear with us, we'll get there.

Vital Statistics

Date - Sunday, October 4
High Temperature (Fayetteville) - 71 degrees

Total Miles Traveled:

Planes - 19,927 miles
Trains - about 1100 miles
Automobiles - about 1000 miles

No idea how far we went on the boats and walking tours...but add a few more miles in for those!

Total Miles - about 22,000 Miles.  For perspective it is 24,000 miles around the earth at the equator.

I tried to keep track of everything we spent, but I got a little lazy as time went on.  Here's a rough estimate of the cost of our vacation.  It could easily be done for less, if you stayed in less expensive hotels and  Martha didn't drink so many pina coladas.

Total Costs: $5389 (roughly) for 18 days away from home

Airfare - $1747
Trains - $259
Tours (3 full-day personal tours, plus Halong Bay cruise) - $1280
Hotels - $848
Food and Drinks - $700 (roughly)
Massages -  $150 for 10 massages
Souvenirs- $200 (roughly)
Laundry - $55 (roughly)
Other expenses (gas, tips, cabs, etc) - $150 (roughly)

Now.....time to pay off debts and plan the next adventure!
